So far I have been having an amazing time in Montreal @MatMacQuarrie & @TaraBabando have been amazing hosts.

Tonight is the big night. Montreal Meets is finally upon us. If you would like to watch the presentations live head over to the Signalnoise Live Broadcast page. It all goes down at 6:00pm EST.

Montreal Meets Schedule:

  • 6:15 PM EST – Montreal Meets Presentation
  • 6:30 PM EST – Signalnoise Presentation
  • 7:30 EST – Abduzeedo Presentation
  • 15 MINUTE BREAK
  • 8:45 PM EST – Q & A Session

On Sunday we met up with a few people at a cool Irish pub (Hurley’s) downtown to have a few drinks. Here are a couple snaps from there.

Topics of conversation ranged from Superman vs. Batman, to trading stories and experiences. It was great to finally meet @Signalnoise, @Abdazeedo, and @AoiroStudio they are awesome dudes. We also got to meet some other cool designers from around the Montreal area. Including @digibomb, @JuanMadrigal, and @DonCiuchete.

Original Post

I will be heading over to Montreal on Saturday in anticipation of… Montreal Meets. With visual stimulation provided by Fabio Sasso and James White of Abduzeedo and Signalnoise, respectively. This is the first time Montreal Meets is taking place. It also marks the first type of event like this that I have been to. Thanks to Francois over at Aoiro Studio who is organizing the meet. So far he has done a fantastic job of putting this meet together. If you build it they will come and they did.

About Montreal Meets

Montreal Meets will take place on Tuesday January 25th, 2011 at Concordia University in Montreal. Fabio and James will be talking about design, inspiration, blogging and of course answering questions from the audience.

“The idea is simple. To connect with the creative world. This is our main goal. To create events that will make people get inspired by the design industry. Especially by the people mastering their vision. We want you to join us on the exploration of the unknown. It’s also an opportunity for you to learn from the people of the industry. It’s their gift to us. It’s our legacy! Connect. Inspire. Learn” – Montreal Meets

Fabio Sasso – Abduzeedo

He is known for his amazing design blog Abduzeedo, a design inspiration and tutorial website. View what he had to say about Montreal Meets over on his blog.

James White – Signalnoise

He is known for his legendary lighting effects (Truck Stop) and live broadcasts over at Signalnoise. Check out what he had to say about Montreal Meets.

I am going to try and post some pictures during the meet and provide a full review upon my return.

What should I do?

I will be hanging out in Montreal for a few days around the event and would love to know if anyone has any suggestions of what I should check out while I am there. Such as, a great vegetarian restaurant, a record store, coffee shop, the actual Bank of Montreal, etc.? If you come up with anything leave me a comment below or hunt me down on twitter.

Check out the view from Mount Royal. Its beautiful.
You have to see it from both sides.
Also, the Olympic Stadium is neat.

AND.. you can drive as crazy as you want.. that way you will fit right in with the locals.
